The first Trader Joe’s in Capitol Hill will open its doors next Friday, September 29th. The new location will be the third Trader Joe’s store in the District and the first not located in Northwest DC.
The ceremony begins at 7:55 a.m. with a ceremonial lei-cutting. The store will be open for business at 8:00 a.m. All weekend there will be live music, giveaways and food tastings.
The new, nearly 13,000 square foot store features underground parking and murals that pay tribute to nearby landmarks, including the Capitol building, Barracks Row and Eastern Market.
Store Captain Tom Senior, an 11-year veteran of the company, and his team of recently hired Crew Members will be on hand to welcome customers at the Grand Opening Ceremony, with a tour of the new location and a celebration of the much-anticipated event.
The entrance for Trader Joe’s Capitol Hill is located at 750 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, in the southwestern corner of the Hine School residential building at the corner of Eighth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE. Parking is available for customers in the underground parking garage, with entry on the south side of C Street near Eighth Street SE. The store is open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
