The Homeless Children’s Playtime Project seeks new volunteers!

The Playtime Project is a nonprofit organization providing evening play programs for children and teens living in DC’s family homeless shelters. One of their sites is DC General Shelter (located at 19th and Massachusetts Ave SE) and they are looking for more volunteers!

Weekly Play Ranger volunteers work with youth in Playtime programs one evening a week (Monday to Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m.), for a minimum 6-month commitment. Play Ranger volunteers play with children, implement activities, and support positive youth development during these program hours. Before serving with our organization, all volunteers must attend a training and then complete a short application process.

The next training is Wednesday, 11/15 from 6:30-8:30pm at 1525 Newton St NW (St. Stephen’s Church). If you cannot make that session, the next training is Monday, Dec. 4th at the same time and place.

Please mark your calendars and reach out with questions or your RSVP to Volunteer Coordinator Deborah Sherman at deborah@playtimeproject.org or by telephone 202-329-4481.
