Amidon-Bowen Elementary Southwest Soirée

Have A Great Time While Supporting Local School

Join the Amidon-Bowen Elementary Community for an evening of live music, small eats & drinks, and panoramic views as they raise funds to support students and teachers. Amidon-Bowen’s inaugural fundraising event, The First Annual Southwest Soirée, will take place 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. June 3 at the Dockmaster Building (101 District Square SW), a two-story glass building on the District Pier. The evening will host great company, live music, small eats, drinks, and panoramic views on the Southwest Waterfront Wharf’s District Pier at the Dockmaster Building. Cocktail attire is required!

This gala and silent auction will rally the community around Amidon-Bowen Elementary, raising money for classroom technology, academic enrichment activities and school supplies.  Donors from all over Southwest have contributed to food, drinks, and silent auction. Ward 6 Council Member Charles Allen will give an opening speech and representatives from the Mayor’s office as well as other city leaders and business innovators will be in attendance. A live jazz band will perform.

A public elementary school in Southwest, Amidon-Bowen Elementary (401 I St SW) is on the upswing and needs the community’s help to maintain its momentum.   While the school has made progress in recent years, it requires significant support as it continues to raise student achievement and provide a well-rounded education to the children of Southwest DC.

As a Title 1 school, Amidon-Bowen serves a diverse student population, including many economically disadvantaged students. The school says that budgets have not kept up with increasing costs and the needs of the student population.

By being part of the inaugural Southwest Soiree, you will help bring needed resources to Amidon-Bowen Elementary.  Amidon-Bowen welcomes opportunities to strengthen ties between our local community and the school. To donate or buy tickets, visit
