Suspect Arrested in Benning Road Stabbing

On Monday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m., members of the Fifth District responded to a call reporting a stabbing in the 1500 block of Benning Road NE. A male and female had been involved in an altercation that started in the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue NE. The female suspect followed the man onto the 1500 block of Benning Road NE. She then stabbed the complainant in the back.

The victim suffered non life threatening injuries. The suspect was located and subsequently placed under arrest for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

At 1:50 a.m. there was an attempted robbery on the 500 block of 16th Street NE.

At 8:24 p.m. Monday, a man was arrested on the 700 block of Seventh Street SE on charges of Indecent exposure.

Reporting Illegal Activity

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.
