Youth Arrested in September Homicide

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Homicide Branch announced that they have made an arrest in a murder that happened in the 1200 block of I Street SE on Sunday, September 10th.

At approximately 5:56 p.m. that day, members of the First District responded to reports of the sounds of gunshots. When they got there, officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Sunday October 1st, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.  The decedent was identified as 24-year-old Carl Hardy of Northeast.

On Thursday, October 26th, 2017 a 16-year-old from Southeast was arrested and charged as an adult with First Degree Murder While Armed.

At 5:53 p.m. Wednesday, a man was arrested on the 200 block of N Street SW on charges of Operating of All-Terrain Vehicles and Dirt Bikes.

Reporting Illegal Activity

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.
