On Thursday, August 23, and Friday, August 24, Eliot-Hine Middle School classes will temporarily relocate to Garnet-Patterson Middle School (2001 10th Street NW).
The afternoon of the previous Tuesday, the middle school’s building experienced extensive flooding due to large amounts of rain. The school was closed Wednesday for evaluation and repairs. Neither Eastern High School nor Maury Village at Eliot-Hine were effected.
Shuttles will transport students from Eliot-Hine to Garnet-Patterson in the morning and return them to Eliot-Hine in the afternoon. Shuttles transporting students to Garnet-Patterson will begin loading at 8:00 a.m.
Students receiving special education transportation services will be picked up from their homes and directly transported to Garnet-Patterson.
The Department of General Services (DGS) and the DCPS teams are working to ensure that the areas of Eliot-Hine Middle School affected by the water damage undergo extensive repair and cleaning so students and staff can return safely to Eliot-Hine as soon as possible. There is so far no timeline on the return.
