Re: Rindy O’Brien’s excellent profile of Urban Forester Steve McKindley-Ward. It’s a pleasure to see Steve and his colleagues at the Urban Forestry Administration receive the recognition they deserve.
As a volunteer with Trees For Capitol Hill, I’ve had frequent interactions with Steve and his predecessors over the past two decades and have invariably been impressed.
I’ve often noted that if everyone in District government performed their jobs with the same enthusiasm and dedication as Steve does, we would be living in Paradise.
The same can be said of John Thomas, Simoun Banua, Jack Chapman and (relative newcomer) Alex Grieve. I have never once been disappointed. They’ve tended our tree canopy with all the loving care it deserves, never failing to go above and beyond the requirements of their positions.
