Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Homicide Branch are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Sunday, September 30, on the 1500 block of Benning Road NE.
At approximately 12:13 a.m., members of the Fifth District arrived to investigate reports of gunshots. When they got there, they found a man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The officers gave him first aid, however, the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 27-year-old Wilbert Brooks of Northeast.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
