Police Investigate Potomac Metro Stabbing

At approximately 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, officers were called to the Potomac Avenue Metro station to assist Metro Transit Police with an assault investigation.  On the scene, officers found an adult male suffering from stab wounds.  The victim was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead after life-saving efforts failed.

The suspects have been described as black males about 16 to 18 old, wearing black jackets and blue jeans.

At 4:49 p.m. Sunday, a man was arrested on the 1700 block of Lyman Place NE on charges of Simple Assault.

At 5:16 p.m. Sunday, a man was arrested on the corner of C Street and Maryland Avenue NE on charges of Simple Assault.

At 10:23 p.m. Sunday, there was an assault with a dangerous weapon on the 1800 block of L Street NE.

At 10:40 p.m. Sunday, a woman was arrested on the Unit block of P Street SW on charges of Driving Under the Influence.

At 11:15 p.m. Sunday, there was a robbery on the 1300 block of Independence Avenue SE.

At 11:50 p.m. Sunday, a man was arrested on the 500 of Eighth Street SE on charges of Destruction of Property.

Reporting Illegal Activity

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.
