UPDATE: The National Park Service (NPS) announced that as of March 26, Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens –including the visitor center, gardens & park grounds, is temporarily closed.

While they have cancelled upcoming events and are following instructions from the CDC and DC government to prevent spread of the virus, Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens (1900 Anacostia Ave. SE), is still open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This means the ponds, boardwalk, trails, parking lot and bathrooms are open. The visitor center however is closed.

The park remains a place for you to take a deep breath, walk among the ponds, and look for birds, muskrats and turtles. Go for a bike ride on the Anacostia River Trail. Bring your sketchbook and draw a lotus seed pod. Try your hand at identifying everything you see you using inaturalist.org. Bring your camera and take some amazing pictures that you can share on social media. nps.gov/keaq.
